Pertamina Predicts Increased Fuel Consumption During Holiday Season

Pertamina Patra Niaga has announced a predicted surge in energy consumption during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holiday period. The state-owned energy company forecasts a 2.3% increase in gasoline consumption and a more significant 3.3% rise in LPG usage. The peak consumption is expected during two main periods: December 24-25, 2025, and December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026.

Fuel Consumption Trends

The company has identified varying trends across different fuel types:

• Gasoline consumption is expected to rise by 2.3%
• LPG consumption is predicted to increase by 3.3%
• Diesel consumption is forecasted to decrease by 2.8% due to operational restrictions on trucks
• Aviation turbine fuel (avtur) is expected to rise by 2.4%
• Kerosene consumption, although generally converted to other fuels, is still predicted to increase by 6.2% in regions where it's still used

Operational Preparedness

To meet the anticipated demand, Pertamina has assured that they are fully prepared with adequate stock levels. Pj Corporate Secretary Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, emphasized the company's readiness to handle the increased consumption during the holiday period. The company has strategically planned its operations to ensure a stable supply across all regions, particularly in areas where certain fuel types like kerosene are still in use.
