PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), as a Subholding Gas of Pertamina, has successfully conducted its first natural gas supply (gas in) to the industrial segment, specifically to PT Bumi Menara Internusa (BMI) located in Lamongan, East Java, starting from January 1, 2026. This milestone marks PGN's commitment to providing efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions to the industrial sector.
Initially, PT Bumi Menara Internusa Lamongan will utilize natural gas at a volume of approximately 15,000 cubic meters per month. As production needs grow and processes are optimized, the consumption is expected to gradually increase to 80,000 cubic meters per month. This phased approach allows for flexible adjustment to the industrial customer's requirements while maximizing the use of natural gas as a cleaner energy source.
Area Head PGN Bojonegoro, Faishal Arief, emphasized that this gas supply initiative is part of PGN's support for efficient industrial energy needs. The utilization of natural gas is expected to enhance operational efficiency for BMI while contributing to Indonesia's national energy transition objectives. Natural gas, being a cleaner fossil fuel compared to coal or oil, represents a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in the industrial sector.
This development highlights PGN's role in supporting Indonesia's industrial sector through reliable energy supply. By providing natural gas to industries like BMI, PGN is facilitating improved operational efficiency and competitiveness. The partnership demonstrates the potential for further collaborations between state-owned enterprises and private industrial players in achieving sustainable energy practices.
