PT PLN (Persero) is actively promoting the involvement of private companies and local governments in developing Indonesia's Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through Stasiun Pengisian Kendaraan Listrik Umum (SPKLU). This initiative is crucial for advancing the national EV ecosystem and supporting the country's transition to electric mobility.
As of now, Indonesia has 4,377 SPKLU across 2,862 locations. The distribution shows that 2,646 SPKLU are fully owned by PLN, while the remaining units are operated by private partners. This mixed ownership model demonstrates PLN's commitment to collaborative development of EV infrastructure.
PLN is offering attractive partnership schemes with specific incentives to encourage private sector participation in the SPKLU business. For potential investors or businesses interested in establishing their own SPKLU, PLN has streamlined the registration process through an online system. Additionally, prospective partners are encouraged to visit PLN's local service units where dedicated Priority Account Executives (PAE) are available to provide comprehensive support throughout the registration process.
Beyond SPKLU, PLN is also developing other EV-related infrastructure, including Stasiun Penukaran Baterai Kendaraan Listrik Umum (SPBKLU) for battery swapping services and Stasiun Pengisian Listrik Umum (SPLU). The development of SPBKLU is particularly noteworthy, with PLN collaborating with motorcycle manufacturers to standardize battery swap processes.
PLN emphasizes that successful development of Indonesia's EV ecosystem requires broad collaboration among various stakeholders, including government entities, private businesses, and investors. The company's leadership highlights that while PLN is synonymous with electricity distribution, the growth of EV infrastructure necessitates collective efforts from all parties involved.
