The event brought together key stakeholders including policymakers, academics, business leaders, and representatives from international organizations.
The forum addressed the growing challenges in managing water, energy, and food resources amid increasing demand for nutritious food and affordable energy. The initiative is aligned with Indonesia's national development priorities as outlined in the RPJMN 2025–2029 and the Asta Cita agenda of the President of Indonesia. By focusing on the interdependence of water, energy, and food resources, the PYC aims to contribute to the country's sustainable development goals.
Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Founder of PYC and former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (2000–2009), emphasized the importance of integrated resource management. He stated that 'food, water, and energy are three interdependent pillars. Without well-managed water resources, there can be no food production. Without efficient energy, we cannot distribute food evenly. The WEF Nexus approach must be the foundation of national policy if we want to achieve sovereign and sustainable food security.'
The dialogue forum concluded with a commitment to further develop strategies for implementing the WEF Nexus approach in Indonesia. The participants recognized the need for continued collaboration among various stakeholders to address the complex challenges in managing water, energy, and food resources.
