This prestigious recognition is part of the broader Asia ESG Summit 2025, which aims to promote regional sustainability through collaborative efforts between public and private sectors.
The awards covered 12 distinct categories, including biodiversity conservation, waste management, renewable energy, energy efficiency, supply chain management, partnerships, and innovation. Winners were selected based on their exceptional dedication to sustainability, climate resilience, and good governance practices. Notably, the winning organizations span various sizes, from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to large corporations, demonstrating that ESG excellence is achievable across different business scales.
Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, praised the winning companies for leading ESG efforts in the region. He emphasized that challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and social inequality require cross-border collaboration among corporations, governments, and regional stakeholders. Malaysia's commitment to achieving 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050 through its National Energy Transition Roadmap was highlighted as an example of national-level ESG ambition.
Chan Seng Fatt, CEO of Star Media Group, described the awards as a historic milestone in making sustainability a defining force in business and society. He emphasized that the recognition serves as a collective step toward regional collaboration among media organizations to connect ESG reporting across countries.
