SMBC Indonesia Continues Sustainability Efforts with Tree Planting Initiative

Environmental Conservation through Community Engagement

PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk (SMBC Indonesia) has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability through the 'BerDaya untuk Bumi' program by planting 1,971 trees in Desa Lembang, Kecamatan Leles, Kabupaten Garut. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with Yayasan Tanah Air Semesta, continues SMBC Indonesia's efforts to create a positive impact on the environment and local communities.

Employee Participation and Community Impact

The tree planting initiative involved 411 employees from SMBC Indonesia and its subsidiaries, including OTO, SOF, and BTPN Syariah, who participated in walking and running activities. The steps collected from these activities were converted into tree donations, resulting in 1,637 coffee trees and 334 forest trees. This program not only supports environmental conservation but also aims to empower local coffee farmers by planting trees that have economic value.

The 'BerDaya untuk Bumi' program aligns with SMBC Indonesia's overall sustainability strategy, which is guided by the motto 'Bersama Lebih Bermakna' (Together, More Meaningful).
