TotalEnergies Secures New Exploration Permit Off Lebanon Coast

Strategic Partnership for Offshore Drilling

TotalEnergies, a French multinational energy giant, has obtained a new exploration permit from the Lebanese government to conduct offshore drilling operations in the country's territorial waters. The permit was announced by the company on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Project Details and Partnership Structure

TotalEnergies will operate the exploration project in Block 8 with a 35% stake, in partnership with Italian energy company Eni, which also holds 35%, and QatarEnergy, which maintains a 30% stake. The consortium plans to initiate 3D seismic surveys to better understand the hydrocarbon potential of the block.
