The warm atmosphere of these events sparked her interest in the wedding industry.
Interestingly, Simpul Awal was born during the Covid-19 pandemic. Rather than being a hindrance, the pandemic presented an opportunity. Alya capitalized on the trend of intimate weddings, which became particularly popular during this time. These events, characterized by limited guest numbers (usually not more than 100 people), appealed to young couples, especially Gen Z, looking for simpler, more budget-friendly wedding options. Despite the challenges, Alya's business thrived as she adapted to the changing landscape.
Through dedication and strategic planning, Simpul Awal experienced significant growth. In its first year, the business managed just three events but faced losses. However, by 2025, it had grown to handle 52 events, representing a 17-fold increase. The business also achieved revenues amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah annually, with monthly revenues reaching tens of millions. This remarkable growth enabled Alya to transition from a part-time entrepreneur to running her business full-time.
Alya faced several challenges, including gaining her parents' approval to balance her business with her studies. She successfully demonstrated that it was possible to manage both responsibilities effectively. After graduating, she worked full-time at a business consultancy but continued to nurture her business during her spare time. Eventually, she decided to resign and focus entirely on Simpul Awal.
