The Waste Water Treatment Plant (IPAL) has started operating to address the problem of domestic waste that previously had the potential to pollute the environment in Pancoran. This facility was built to respond to the condition of hundreds of homes that did not have a waste treatment system.
The IPAL built consists of a communal septic tank complete with a pipe network connecting two locations. The facility is intended for residents who do not have a private waste treatment system. In addition to physical development, laboratory testing was also carried out to see the change in wastewater quality before and after the IPAL operates.
The test results show that the wastewater quality has improved, marked by a decrease in the main pollutant levels that previously exceeded the quality standards, after the IPAL operates, it has decreased significantly, so the IPAL has proven effective in reducing the potential for environmental pollution.
With the operation of the IPAL, the direct disposal of domestic waste into the environment is expected to decrease and the risk of water pollution can be reduced.
